From Roots to STEM
Our community is holding the next Daniel Hale Williams ( open heart surgery). Our community is holding the next Mary Kenner ( had the largest number of patent by a black woman). Our community is holding the next Valerie Thomas ( scientist that created digital reading formats for NASA). The biggest problem our community has…. Few are pouring confidence in the youth to dream.
We want to change the culture of black men filling the prisons, to black men filling the STEM fields. We want to change the narrative that black women are not smart and leaders. The best way to do this is to offer education that is not often given in school. We believe that every man woman and child that has the opportunity to learn STEM will be the help our community needs to develop.
Ogun is the Orish of Iron and war. we wish to use the energy of Ogun to forge brilliant minds and wage war on the limitations our community has against it. Our STEM program has a goal of getting teens a head start on apprenticeships in trades, giving training to adults to get jobs in the STEM field. Giving the confidence needed for the next black inventors!
